Pilgrims' religious questions have kept the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance busy: more than 100,000 Sharia inquiries were answered through its toll-free automated service in the first quarter of the 1448 AH Umrah season. The service is run by the ministry's General Secretariat for Islamic Awareness in Hajj, Umrah and Visitation.
Callers to the free number 8002451000 can get automated answers in 15 languages, among them Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Indonesian, Filipino, Hausa, Bengali and Hindi. The line covers questions about the rulings of Umrah and its rites, helping pilgrims of all nationalities perform their worship with proper knowledge.
During the peak seasons of Ramadan and Hajj, the ministry also offers direct voice and video calls with preachers.
The ministry said the service is part of its use of modern technology to deliver reliable religious information to pilgrims, explain the rites in line with the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, and highlight the ease, tolerance and moderation of Islam, in line with the leadership's directives to serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
