Jeddah Governorate Municipality has started work to develop and widen a stretch of about 1,900 metres of Prince Majid Road, running from the Old Makkah Road junction to the Al-Falah Road junction, to improve the road network and ease traffic flow.
The municipality said the road will be widened to 52 metres, with four lanes in each direction, eight in total, increasing its capacity and improving links between neighbourhoods and the main roads that cross it.
Prince Majid Road is one of the main routes connecting north and south Jeddah and gives access to key facilities, including King Abdulaziz International Airport and sports venues. The upgrade is expected to improve traffic heading to the airport from central and southern Jeddah.
The work also includes rehabilitating the area within the project's scope and improving its infrastructure and urban frontage, in step with development in surrounding areas.
The municipality said the project is part of its ongoing upgrade of main roads and infrastructure, in line with the Quality of Life Program, one of the Saudi Vision 2030 realisation programmes.
