The Transport General Authority (TGA) and the National Maritime Academy (NMA) have launched an online English Test Platform to assess maritime personnel's command of specialized maritime English and raise language skills to match the sector's operational needs.

From 2027, passing the test on the platform will be compulsory for all targeted groups, the authority said, with the aim of unifying language assessment criteria, improving workforce readiness and developing skills the sector requires.

The initiative is part of joint TGA-NMA efforts to develop human capital and train personnel to maritime work standards, improving performance and professional practice.

The authority urged maritime workers to register and take the test through the dedicated platform at https://marineenglish.com.sa/.
