Neighbourhoods in Historic Diriyah are the testing ground for "Create Your Neighborhood's Identity", a new initiative by the Quality of Life Program Center that uses design and the arts to improve public spaces. Its partners are the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, King Salman Cultural Centers, the cultural arm of the King Salman Foundation, and the AlMashtal Creative Incubator.

Participants will develop prototype art and design projects drawing on Diriyah's cultural and architectural heritage, with the goal of raising the quality of shared spaces and strengthening residents' sense of belonging.

The six-to-eight-week programme involves between 15 and 21 participants in five groups supervised by experts, and aims to design and deliver between one and three projects in public spaces. Local artists will mentor the participants and pass on practical experience.

Residents' and visitors' views and needs are placed at the centre of the design process, using a method developed by AlMashtal that combines creative skills training with hands-on work and community engagement. The organisers said the approach could later be applied in other neighbourhoods and cities across the Kingdom, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 goals on quality of life and local identity.
