The Asir Region Municipality, through the Khamis Mushait Governorate municipality, has completed the development of Al-Khamsin Road, one of the governorate's key routes, linking Al-Tahliya and Al-Diyafa districts over a length of 5.5 kilometres.
The project added facilities for pedestrians and cyclists stretching 850 metres, aiming to improve traffic safety, enhance the urban landscape and provide a suitable space for exercise.
Construction work included upgrading the central median with slip-form kerbs, milling and resurfacing the road, and applying road markings and traffic safety features to ease traffic flow, make lanes clearer and better protect vehicles and pedestrians.
Service facilities include a walkway, a bicycle lane and parallel parking for road users and nearby establishments, as well as decorative lighting allowing the walkway to be used at night, benches, waste bins, tree planting and decorative gravel.
The head of the Khamis Mushait Governorate municipality said the upgrade combines improving the road's efficiency with equipping it to serve residents and visitors, adding that lighting, landscaping and seating complete the work and reflect the municipality's focus on combining service and aesthetic aspects in public spaces.
