Saudi Arabia has welcomed the presidential statement issued by members of the UN Security Council on the attacks against the Kingdom, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The statement condemned the continuing and escalating attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi group against Saudi Arabia, including strikes that hit civilian objects, airports and energy infrastructure, as well as the persistent threats to shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
In its own statement, the ministry underlined the importance of the council's text, notably its insistence on the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) and later resolutions, and its call for practical cooperation to keep the terrorist Houthi group from obtaining weapons and other forms of support.
“The Kingdom values the solidarity of Security Council members with it in the face of attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects on its territory, and stresses its inherent right, guaranteed by international law, to take all measures to defend its security and protect its citizens and residents,” the ministry added.
