Kuwait has welcomed the presidential statement issued by the UN Security Council on the continuing attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi group against Saudi Arabia, including its condemnation of strikes that target civilians, civilian objects and vital facilities and that endanger navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.

In a statement, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country supports the positions set out by the Council, in particular its affirmation of the Kingdom's right to self-defence under international law.

Kuwait also endorsed the statement's call for full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) and for stopping arms, funding and all forms of military support from reaching the Houthi militia.

Reaffirming its absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait said it stands fully behind every step the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, and stressed that Saudi security is an inseparable part of the security of Kuwait and of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
