The Jordanian government has welcomed the UN Security Council presidential statement condemning the terrorist Houthi group's attacks on Saudi Arabia, among them strikes on civilians, civilian objects, airports and energy facilities, along with the persistent threats to the safety of shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the significance of the statement, which stressed the need to fully apply Security Council Resolution 2216 of 2015 and the relevant resolutions adopted since, and urged stronger international cooperation to stop the Houthi militia from acquiring weapons and other support.
The ministry renewed Jordan's condemnation of the Houthi militia's assaults on the Kingdom, calling them a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and a clear breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
It also reaffirmed Jordan's absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its backing for every step the Kingdom takes to protect its security, sovereignty, stability and resources, as well as the safety of the people who live there, citizens and residents alike.
