The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque is offering a full range of accessible services for people with disabilities and elderly visitors at the Prophet's Mosque this Hajj, to help them enter, move around and pray.
A total of 4,700 wheelchairs are available at set points in the mosque and its courtyards and can be borrowed from gate management offices and service points. Multi-seat electric carts carry more than 8,000 elderly people and people with disabilities every day across the outer courtyards.
Prayer areas near the main entrances have dedicated paths for wheelchairs and mobility aids, alongside accessible entrances, elevators, ramps and signage, and reserved parking for people with disabilities is provided near the entrances in the underground car park.
Field staff and volunteers offer guidance and help, while Braille copies of the Quran, translated sermons and interactive digital maps make facilities easier to reach. More than 7,500 field personnel are running operations during Hajj, focusing on crowd management and support in several languages.
