Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, said Saudi Arabia plays important roles in regional and global peace and security and a crucial part in supporting political solutions to the region's conflicts, helping open room for dialogue, ease tensions, rally regional support and ultimately reach lasting peace.

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dujarric welcomed the leadership shown by the Kingdom together with France and partners in mobilizing international backing through the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and the New York Declaration, saying the task now is to turn that backing into sustained, tangible action.

He said the most important practical step is a credible political process leading to an end to the occupation and the establishment of the State of Palestine, supported by effective measures that keep the two-state solution viable under international law, UN resolutions and previous agreements. That means halting settlement expansion and reversing annexation, which he said undermine the viability and territorial contiguity of a Palestinian state, as well as strengthening Palestinian institutions and restoring the Palestinian Authority's financial sustainability.

"It is also important to implement the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, ensure the sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance, support recovery, and chart a path towards unified Palestinian governance," he said, stressing that Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, must remain politically, economically and geographically united.

Dujarric noted the Kingdom's strong ability to bring international parties together. Over the past two years it has hosted major UN and international events, including COP16 of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the Internet Governance Forum, the UNIDO General Conference and the UN Tourism General Assembly, as well as the Future Minerals Forum, the International Labor Market Conference and the Future Investment Initiative. Upcoming are the UN World Data Forum in November 2026, the World Water Forum in 2027, Expo 2030 Riyadh and the FIFA World Cup 2034. He added that the Kingdom helped launch new multilateral platforms such as the Digital Cooperation Organization, born of its 2020 G20 presidency, and the Global Water Organization, founded in 2025.

On aid, he said the Kingdom is among the world's major donors: according to OECD data, 94% of its official development assistance in 2023, about $5.47 billion, was given bilaterally. Describing Saudi Arabia as an important UN partner that has become increasingly active in diplomacy, humanitarian work and development, he said there is an opportunity to work together to turn solidarity into practical support such as food, healthcare and education, and voiced hope that the partnership would deliver concrete results in de-escalation, dialogue, peace and development for those most in need.
