The Aseer Region Municipality has begun planting one million seasonal flowers over the winter, including petunias, chrysanthemums and geraniums, as part of projects to improve the urban landscape and get public spaces ready for visitors.

The work comes as the region prepares for the winter season, when several of its governorates draw tourists, especially coastal destinations and areas with mild weather.

The planting programme involves choosing suitable sites and running care, cleaning, maintenance and monitoring schedules, with specialised teams assigned to keep the plants healthy and roads, squares and public facilities looking their best.

On the infrastructure side, the municipality is maintaining and resurfacing roads to improve traffic flow and safety, and upgrading pavements and pedestrian walkways to make it easier to reach facilities, markets and parks.

The municipality said combining beautification with infrastructure work helps shape an urban identity that reflects Aseer's varied terrain and climate, from mountain highlands to plains and coast, and makes its destinations more competitive.
