Umm Anam in Haql Governorate, Tabuk Region, ranks among the best-known beach swimming spots for local people and visitors, with natural features that have made it a favourite with sea lovers and swimmers.
Its name comes from the anam, a plant with striking red flowers that once grew thickly in the valley whose floodwaters drain onto the shore, twining around and clinging to acacia trees. The name has kept this part of the area's plant life in local memory for generations.
Visitors are drawn by the clear turquoise water, soft sand and gradually deepening sea, which suits all age groups. The crescent-shaped shoreline offers wide panoramic views, especially at sunrise and sunset.
The beach is now one of Haql's main tourist landmarks, welcoming large numbers of visitors during holidays and peak seasons thanks to its calm atmosphere and its proximity to services in the governorate.
