His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, chaired a meeting at his office in Al-Hukm Palace on Wednesday to review the activation of the "Northern Trail" as part of the Saudi Winter 2026-2027 season. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb and officials from relevant bodies attended.

The trail is designed to highlight the natural, heritage and cultural attractions of the region's governorates, develop new tourism experiences there and help local communities benefit from the sector. It includes tourist experiences and routes, programmes to train tour guides, and the involvement of local associations and communities in offering tourism products.

The tourism minister briefed the governor on key indicators for the sector in Saudi Arabia and the Riyadh Region, the growth in tourist traffic and activities, and efforts to attract investment and improve hospitality facilities and visitor services.

Prince Faisal praised the work of the ministry and the wider Saudi tourism system, stressing the trail's role in diversifying experiences and widening local participation. Al-Khateeb said the Riyadh Region is one of the main destinations of the Saudi Winter season and that the trail aims to enrich the experience of domestic and international visitors.
