Germany's Siemens Mobility has signed a contract with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City to boost the fleet of the Riyadh Metro (Riyadh Train), Al Riyadh newspaper reported.
Under the deal, the company will deliver 27 new four-car driverless trains, plus 52 cars to be added to existing trains, raising capacity on the Blue and Red lines.
The new trains are compatible with the current systems and are intended to keep pace with rising demand for public transport.
