More than 50 overland travellers have gathered at the Bin Assy Equestrian and Heritage Center in Tabuk for a four-day event, the first of its kind in the region, dedicated to modified trip vehicles, motorcycles, walking and rescue teams. Several relevant agencies are also participating.
The event is organised by the Ministry of Sport's branch in Tabuk with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and the General Directorate of Community Sports, "Sports for All". It gives participants a chance to share know-how on preparing vehicles and planning desert trips, and promotes practices that improve safety and preparedness.
According to the ministry branch, participants are presenting how they ready their vehicles for overland journeys, while rescue teams are showing visitors how to deal with emergencies during trips.
The ministry said the gathering is part of its efforts to support sport and youth activities and to encourage people interested in walking, overland travel and motorcycling to take part and learn from one another.
