Saudi writers, poets, thinkers and publishers will take part in the 29th Algiers International Book Fair, where the Kingdom is guest of honour. The fair runs from October 28 to November 7 at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers under the theme "Tomorrow between the covers of a book", with 1,567 exhibitors representing 51 countries.

Announcing the programme at a press conference, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ambassador to Algeria, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Busairi, described the invitation as a chance to deepen cultural exchange and showcase the brotherly ties between the two nations, reflecting both leaderships' wish to develop cooperation. He thanked Algeria for choosing the Kingdom, promised a high-level Saudi presence with a wide range of books, and urged Algerian visitors to come to the Saudi pavilion.

Fair commissioner Mohamed Iguerb said around 300,000 titles will be on display, and a cultural, literary and intellectual programme of 994 events will involve some 220 writers and thinkers from Algeria, the Arab world, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Sessions will address literature, history, memory and identity as well as philosophy, artificial intelligence and African writing, with names including Adonis, Algerian novelist Yasmina Khadra and French historian Benjamin Stora. The third "My First Book" prize will be awarded, a new prize for the best Algerian translator will be launched, and several Algerian authors and creators will be honoured.
