A forum titled "Mental Health Between Personal Balance and Family Stability" was held today in Abha to mark World Mental Health Day 2026. It took place at the theatre of Al Hayat National Hospital, with the participation of the Abha Chamber of Commerce and specialists in psychology, education and family affairs.

The forum focused on the role of mental health in quality of life and in preventing the effects of daily stress. Participants discussed four themes: individual mental health, psychological safety within the family, marital and family challenges, and the role of educational and community institutions in raising awareness and reducing the social stigma attached to mental health.

Dr. Maryam Al-Harbi spoke about managing stress and balancing personal needs with daily responsibilities, while Dr. Fawzia Ahmed Salama addressed the family's role in providing a safe environment and shaping children's character through dialogue and emotional support, taking into account the psychological needs of persons with disabilities.

Educational adviser Mushabbab Al-Muqbil discussed the effect of stress on marriages and the importance of communication skills, managing disagreements and seeking family counselling early. The forum closed with a discussion on the link between balanced families and a strong society, and on how families and institutions can work together to raise a psychologically balanced generation.
