The Asir Region Municipality and the Abha Chamber of Commerce today hosted events of the Asir Cyber initiative, organised by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation under the slogan "Awareness that protects, security that lasts". The events coincide with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, marked every October.
Awareness sessions covered the main cybersecurity challenges, the importance of complying with national policies and standards, safe practices when using systems, networks and digital platforms, and ways of protecting government data from breaches and cyberattacks.
For government bodies, the initiative offers specialised workshops, sessions to build a cybersecurity culture and simulations of cyberattacks and incidents to improve readiness and response, as well as consultations, technical support and the exchange of expertise. It also activates a "Cybersecurity Clinic" for specialist advice, launches an "Asir Cyber Ambassadors" programme to spread awareness, and provides visual content and guidance materials.
The initiative aims to raise government readiness to handle cyber risks, increase compliance with national controls and develop skills in information protection. It forms part of cooperation between the corporation, government bodies and the private sector in Asir in support of national cybersecurity efforts.
