The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sudan, Denise Brown, has condemned a drone attack that struck a site near a gathering of displaced people in Sudan's Blue Nile region, in the southeast of the country, killing at least 31 civilians, most of them women and children.
In a statement, Brown denounced the attack, which hit near a displacement site in the Wad al-Mahi area. She said preliminary information indicated that at least 31 civilians had been killed.
Brown stressed that those responsible for these violations must be held to account, saying that condemning the killings alone is not enough and that accountability for flagrant violations of international humanitarian law must be ensured.
