Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail headed Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the 24th meeting of the Committee of Ministers Responsible for Housing Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held in Manama on Wednesday.

The ministers discussed developing the housing sector and strengthening joint Gulf work, including sharing expertise and developing housing policies and practices, and followed up on implementation of the Unified Rules for Joint Property Owners in GCC States approved by the GCC Supreme Council.

Saudi Arabia took on the task of preparing guidelines for applying sustainability standards in housing projects, to support the exchange of sustainable housing practices across the Gulf.

In a ministerial dialogue on the future of national housing held alongside the meeting, Al-Hogail spoke about how the sector is changing as family needs, lifestyles and the requirements of different generations and regions evolve. He urged stronger GCC integration in housing, making use of Gulf capabilities, and going beyond sharing experience to closer alignment of policies and systems that produce housing and financing solutions meeting the needs of GCC citizens.
