Manal Radwan, Special Envoy and Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Negotiations and Peace Efforts, represented Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah at the ministerial meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) in support of the Palestinian people, held at UN headquarters in New York under Norway's chairmanship and co-sponsored by the United States and the European Union.
In the Kingdom's statement, she reaffirmed firm support for the Palestinian Authority and its institutions and stressed the urgency of ending its financial crisis. She called for withheld Palestinian clearance revenues to be released in full and without delay, and said financial commitments must not be made conditional on the reform process.
Radwan said humanitarian relief, early recovery and reconstruction funding should be aligned within a clear political framework that strengthens legitimate Palestinian institutions, keeps the West Bank and Gaza Strip territorially united and enables the Palestinian Authority to return to govern Gaza.
She added that economic support cannot be separated from conditions on the ground, warning that settlement expansion, settler violence and measures that erode the territorial contiguity and economic viability of the Palestinian state gravely weaken its institutions and endanger the prospect of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
