The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired today's Cabinet session in Riyadh. Ministers were briefed on a letter the King received from Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and on the Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman's meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments and the Kingdom's contacts with partner countries to support regional stability and limit the impact of conflicts on global energy security, trade, supply chains and shipping. It welcomed a presidential statement by UN Security Council members condemning attacks by the terrorist Houthi group on civilian sites, airports and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and its continued threats to navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. The statement stressed full implementation of Resolution 2216 and cooperation to stop the group from obtaining weapons and other support.

The Cabinet praised the OIC foreign ministers' decision, based on a Saudi proposal, to create an OIC council of cybersecurity ministers with its general secretariat and executive office in Riyadh. It also commended the Riyadh Economic Forum's recommendations and said the 33.5% rise in foreign direct investment in 2025 compared with 2024 confirmed the economy's appeal and the impact of Vision 2030 reforms.

Among its decisions, the Cabinet approved a headquarters agreement for a UNITAR office in the Kingdom and a cybersecurity memorandum with it, and passed four laws: on patents and utility models, new plant varieties, layout designs of integrated circuits, and designs.

It also approved memorandums between the Financial Investigations Unit and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and between the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and Russia's State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices, and authorised talks with Australia on nuclear safety and security and with Syria on tourism.

Other decisions allow the spouses and children of staff posted abroad, scholarship employees and scholarship students to join the educational mission for bachelor's and master's study under set rules, extend the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program to the end of 2032, approve final accounts of Al-Baha and Hafr Al-Batin universities and the King Fahd National Library, and promote Badr Al-Mufairij, Nabil Al-Zahrani and Yahya Akeish to the rank of minister plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
