Deals worth more than SAR 13 million were struck at the third Madinah Camel Auction in Al-Hanakiyah Governorate, which wrapped up after attracting over 110,000 visitors and more than 350 participants. Occupancy in the governorate reached 97% while the event was under way.
Al-Hanakiyah Governor Mubarak bin Atallah Al-Mouraqi said, as the auction closed, that the results reflect its success in boosting economic and tourism activity in the governorate, supporting camel owners and enthusiasts of this national heritage, and making use of the area's economic and heritage assets.
Running since 8 October, the programme combined trade and folk heritage, with an auction of rare camels, open camel sales, camel shows, traditional arts, poetry exchanges and evening gatherings, plus gifts and prizes for visitors and participants.
The site also hosted a market for productive families, veterinary clinics and pavilions where government agencies offered their services to visitors.
