The Islamic University of Madinah has moved up 32 places in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2027, published by QS on October 15, climbing from 118th in the 2026 edition to 86th.

That is the largest rise of any Saudi university in the table and the second-largest among Arab universities.

Among Saudi universities, it climbed eight places from 28th to 20th, and among public universities five places from 22nd to 17th. Its overall score went up from 29.1 to 37 points, growth of 27.1% and the biggest increase among Saudi universities with comparable data. It improved on eight of the ranking's ten indicators.

University President Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Aqla thanked the Kingdom's leadership for its support for higher education. He said the progress was the result of institutional work and the efforts of faculty, researchers, staff and students, and that the university would keep working towards its strategic goals and a stronger global standing in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
