Two young Shaheen (peregrine) falcons were sold for a combined SAR 374,000 on the fourth night of the National Falcon Center Auction 2026, held before a large crowd of falconry enthusiasts. The auction, organised by the centre, runs until 30 November.
The night opened with a young Shaheen trapped in the Jazan region by a group of 12 trappers. Bidding started at SAR 100,000 and the bird sold for SAR 193,000. The second and final falcon, also a young Shaheen, was trapped in Al-Uwayqilah by Sunaitan Al-Shammari and Yousef Al-Harbi; bidding opened at SAR 120,000 and closed at SAR 181,000.
Only juvenile migratory peregrines (Shaheen Bahri) trapped inside the Kingdom are accepted at the auction. Adult Shaheen Qarnas and Saker (Hurr) falcons are excluded to support their sustainability and preserve their lines. Locally trapped falcons are received over a two-month period.
Throughout the trapping season, the centre offers trappers a package of services: its teams receive falcon owners in various regions, and it covers their accommodation and transport to the auction venue, where each falcon is offered in a fast, live and competitive auction.
Auction nights are broadcast on partner television channels and the centre's social media accounts so that falconers and other followers can watch.
