The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat has postponed the GCC-EU Summit that was due to be held in Riyadh on October 24, 2026, as the terrorist Houthi group keeps up its attempts to target Saudi Arabia. A new date will be set later by agreement between the Gulf and European sides.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi attributed the decision to what he described as the "terrorist Houthi militia" persisting in efforts to strike the Kingdom and its civilian objects, endangering the safety and security of civilians, and to the extension of the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport.

He said the rescheduling was also intended to protect the delegations taking part in the summit.

Albudaiwi stressed that both the GCC and the European Union are determined to work towards suitable conditions for holding the summit, in support of their long-term goals of strengthening and building on cooperation in many fields and bringing growth and prosperity to their countries and peoples.
