Gold prices moved higher on Monday, with spot gold gaining 0.3% to $4,206.01 an ounce as a weaker US dollar and falling oil prices lent support to the metal.

Investors are awaiting the release of major US inflation figures later this week, looking for signals about the next monetary policy move by the Federal Reserve, the US central bank.

US gold futures for December delivery also advanced 0.3%, reaching $4,230.40.

Other precious metals followed suit. Spot silver added 0.5% to $61.12 an ounce, platinum rose 1% to $1,704.70, and palladium climbed 1.2% to $1,161.81.
