The Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), a Public Investment Fund company, has announced the transfer of ownership of the National Grain Company to the National Company for Grain Supplies, in a move aimed at strengthening the resilience of the Kingdom's grain supply chains. The announcement was made at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the presence of Minister Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, who chairs SALIC's board.
The transfer follows SALIC's completion of full ownership of the National Grain Company through the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake, a step intended to integrate the company's local investments.
The move combines the grain supplier's capabilities in managing the strategic wheat reserve, its national network of silos and storage facilities and its capacity to receive, store and distribute grain with the National Grain Company's expertise in sourcing from international markets, its specialization in grain and feed inputs, and its local commercial presence. The integration is expected to widen the range of grains and commodities the supplier covers and strengthen its ability to meet local market needs.
The deal is part of SALIC's strategy to link its local and international investments. In July 2026, the company announced that Continental Farmers Group would join Olam Agri to strengthen its international sourcing capabilities; the new step connects the supplies SALIC secures globally with logistics and commercial capabilities inside the Kingdom.
Under the new structure, the National Grain Company will continue to operate as an independent legal entity wholly owned by the National Company for Grain Supplies, with both companies working within an integrated national system for grain and feed inputs to support supply continuity and contribute to food security targets and Saudi Vision 2030.
