RUA AlHaram AlMakki, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) company acting as master developer of the King Salman Gate project, signed a cooperation agreement yesterday in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), a real estate and infrastructure developer.
The agreement provides for studying the development of a large transport-oriented, mixed-use destination within King Salman Gate in Makkah, with an estimated total value of SAR21 billion. The project still depends on completing due diligence, obtaining the required approvals and financing, setting implementation phases and signing final agreements.
The partnership taps MRCB's experience in projects tied to integrated transport systems, most prominently KL Sentral, Malaysia's largest integrated transport hub, which combines transport networks with a range of urban uses.
Under study are a public bus station together with residential, commercial, retail and other mixed-use components. Beyond infrastructure, the two parties will look at how the transport network and support services can ease the movement of pilgrims and visitors, improve accessibility and enrich their experience in Makkah. They will also explore an integrated framework for developing, financing and delivering the project.
The agreement paves the way for international investment in King Salman Gate, supporting the Kingdom's drive to raise Makkah's capacity to serve pilgrims and visitors from around the world. RUA AlHaram AlMakki said it is working to attract leading international partners to help deliver that experience to the highest global standards.
In line with Saudi Vision 2030, King Salman Gate reflects the Kingdom's efforts to enhance the experience of pilgrims and visitors while preserving Makkah's unique heritage.
