Some 80 kilometers from Jizan city, Wadi Dhahaya in the Balghazi Mountains of Al-Aydabi Governorate has become a leading rural tourism spot, known for its farming terraces, flowing streams and varied plant life.
The valley cuts through rugged ground lined with green terraces, stone villages and seasonal mountain streams. When the rains come, running water, mist-covered peaks and terraced slopes combine into striking scenery that pulls in eco-tourists and photographers.
The terraces, centuries old, bear witness to traditional mountain farming methods by which local people shaped fertile plots from steep hillsides.
Wadi Dhahaya is a main habitat of wild Dhahyan trees, which support the production of the valued Dhahyan honey, and also hosts native sidr, acacia and juniper. Combining scenery with direct access to local beekeepers and mountain farming heritage, the site continues to strengthen agrotourism in the region.
