A high-level Saudi delegation used the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Malta, held October 7–9, 2026, to present the Kingdom's tourism transformation, the Ministry of Tourism said as it concluded its participation. The ministry's focus was on international cooperation and sharing expertise with counterparts abroad.
Vice Minister of Tourism Abdulmuhsen Al Mazyad headed the delegation, which also included Aqeel Alshaibani, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, and Qusai Al-Fakhri, CEO of the Tourism Development Fund. Their joint presence highlighted the close ties with the WTTC and the coordination between Saudi tourism bodies in pursuing national targets.
Al Mazyad said the summit was a chance to show how Saudi Arabia has turned tourism into a key pillar of development and an infrastructure that strengthens a resilient, diversified economy, through an integrated government model linking regulation, investment and enablement. He added that the delegation aimed to engage international partners and private companies to align priorities and turn discussions into concrete steps.
On the sidelines, the delegation met Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy and Bahrain's Minister of Tourism Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi to discuss closer cooperation, promotion and joint tourism packages. It also held talks with private sector representatives and global investors on promising investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
The ministry said the participation reflects the Kingdom's commitment to an active role in leading international forums and in hosting global dialogue on tourism policy.
