The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) has issued the "Riyadh List of Common Vocabulary in Contemporary Arabic", a list of the 5,000 words most frequently used in Arabic today.

The academy says the list is a dependable resource for lexicography, Arabic teaching, artificial intelligence applications and Arabic language processing, and is part of its work on linguistic resources and datasets.

It was built from a large corpus of around 1.75 billion words in more than 2.57 million texts, gathered from newspapers, books, academic theses, peer-reviewed journals, magazines, websites, lectures, seminars, school curricula, news agencies and official publications.

Readers can access it as a digital book in KSGAAL's digital library, or interactively on the FALAK Linguistic Corpus Platform, which provides statistics and data for wider research and applications.

The academy continues to produce linguistic resources and datasets and make them available to researchers and specialists through its programs and projects, supporting Arabic content, scientific research and Arabic language technologies.
