The 11th Scientific Assembly of the Saudi Society of Emergency Medicine (SASEM 2026), held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, ended today in Jeddah after three days of scientific sessions, workshops and side events attended by leaders, experts and practitioners from the Kingdom and abroad.
The assembly reviewed the latest developments in emergency medicine and ways to improve clinical practice, education, training and research. It also considered how leadership and innovation can prepare a new generation of practitioners to handle emergencies efficiently, improving quality of care and patient safety.
Sessions examined how ready the health system is for disasters and mass-casualty incidents, stressing advance planning, training, simulation and teams able to make decisions in exceptional conditions, especially when resources are limited and casualties rise, as well as new challenges in major incident response.
Speakers also shared the Kingdom's long experience in managing crowds during the Hajj and Umrah seasons, drawing practical lessons on preparedness, coordination between medical teams and knowledge exchange with international specialists.
