Surgeons at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh, part of the Ministry of Interior's General Administration of Medical Services, have carried out a procedure that is the first of its kind in the Security Forces hospital network, removing a tumor that began in the appendix and had spread into the abdominal cavity.

The specialist team excised the tumor and affected tissue, then delivered heated chemotherapy directly into the abdominal cavity using a specialized technique to destroy remaining cancer cells and lower the chance of recurrence.

The administration said the operation reflects its drive to expand specialist services and adopt advanced techniques to raise the quality of care.
