Volunteers and government staff have begun planting trees along the Al-Baha Pass road, which connects the Sarawat highlands with the Tihama lowlands, in an initiative led by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification with the Al-Baha branches of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services.

Carried out under the slogan "A generation plants for a flourishing nation", the initiative aims to plant 10,000 seedlings in phases to increase vegetation cover, improve the landscape, limit the effects of desertification and develop the region's natural resources.

Attending were Eng. Fahd bin Muftah Al-Zahrani, director general of the environment ministry's branch in the region; Eng. Misfer bin Musleh Al-Malki, director general of the transport ministry's branch; and Mohammed Saeed Al-Qudwah, the center's director in Al-Baha.

The drive reflects cooperation between government bodies and wider community involvement in environmental work, in support of sustainability goals and the Saudi Green Initiative.
