Al-Qadsiah's swimming team placed second overall among 42 clubs at the regional short-course championship for clubs from the Riyadh, Eastern and Northern regions, held at the Ministry of Sport pool in Al-Ahsa. The team collected 63 medals in total.
Their haul comprised 32 gold, 25 silver and six bronze medals. The team also won the cup for the open category and the cup for the youth category, combining the runner-up spot overall with top honours in two age groups.
Al-Qadsiah swimmers set nine new national records, four in individual events and five in relays. Hussain Al-Khabbaz broke the Saudi 50m breaststroke record for the 11–12 age group in 36.32 seconds, beating the previous mark of 36.41, while Faisal Al-Habbad set a new 100m freestyle record for 9–10-year-olds in 1:08.04, improving on 1:08.37.
Mohammed Al-Zaki added two Saudi records in the open category, in the 200m butterfly and the 100m individual medley. The club said the results reflect its swimming programme, which focuses on building a base of young talent and raising its technical level.
