The second International Camel Endurance Championship gets under way tomorrow at the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Racetrack in Wadi Rum, Jordan. It is organized by the International Camel Racing Federation in cooperation with the Jordanian Camel Racing Committee, with 11 countries taking part: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Poland, Mali, Chad, Egypt, Algeria, the UAE, Yemen and Denmark.

Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the race covers 12 kilometers and features 37 male and female riders. The organizers have set aside prize money of about 50,000 US dollars, split equally between the men's and women's categories and awarded to the top ten finishers in each.

His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, President of the International Camel Racing Federation, said the Jordanian Crown Prince's patronage is important support for this edition and strengthens the presence of camel racing on the international sports stage.

He thanked the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their continued support for sport and athletes, and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, for backing the federation's efforts to develop this traditional sport.

The first edition was held at the AlUla Camel Racetrack in 2024 and was won by the Saudi national team, with Fares Al-Juhani taking first place in the men's category and Khulood Al-Shammari first in the women's category.
