Tree-planting activities for the 2026 National Greening Season have begun in Al-Ahsa, launched by the governorate's office of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture together with the Green Environment Society. Office director Dr. Atiah bin Muqbil Al-Thaqafi took part in the launch, which aims to expand green cover, promote a culture of planting and protect the environment.
Al-Thaqafi said the season continues efforts to grow vegetation cover and to embed the values of planting and environmental sustainability. He stressed the need for partnership between government bodies, the private and non-profit sectors and members of the public to widen green areas and conserve natural resources.
He added that the office will run a series of initiatives, programmes and field and awareness events during the season to encourage community involvement and support sustainable environmental development goals.
