Team Sunbulah has won the third edition of the AgentX artificial intelligence hackathon for employment and business solutions in the Eastern Province, taking first place in the environmental sustainability and carbon reduction track. The event was held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the top three teams received cash prizes.
SABBAQ came second in the energy and industry track and MIRSAD third in the logistics and ports track. Thirty projects were entered in total.
Entries were spread across four tracks: energy and industry; logistics and ports; beneficiary experience and customer service; and environmental sustainability and carbon reduction. Young Saudis worked on applied AI ideas tied to the needs of employers, built business prototypes, met experts and partner organisations and explored careers in the field.
The programme began with a virtual bootcamp, workshops and mentoring sessions and ended with an in-person stage where teams presented their final solutions, giving participants hands-on experience of building AI applications in multidisciplinary teams.
Organisers said the hackathon is part of efforts to enable Saudi talent to develop AI solutions, link them with quality jobs and build skills for the growing digital economy, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
