Support from the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, has exceeded SAR1.2 billion in Jazan Region, reaching more than 34,000 beneficiaries, according to the programme's indicators. Nine agricultural projects worth SAR81.7 million have also been carried out, with an average completion rate of 70%.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Mujthal, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in Jazan, said the programme backs rural production by supporting farmers, making better use of natural resources, raising efficiency and diversifying incomes.

Supported output has included more than 2.7 million seedlings and more than 2.2 million head of livestock, he said. Supported marine products exceeded 13.2 thousand tonnes, and supported agricultural output passed 3.5 thousand tonnes.

The region's mix of fertile plains, mountain farmland and a Red Sea coastline offers openings for crops, livestock and fisheries alike.

The supported projects strengthen the rural production base and back marketing, supply chains and agricultural processing, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals of diversifying the economy, improving food security and developing rural areas.
