Visitors to Hayy Jameel in Jeddah can now explore "At the Edge of Renewal", a new exhibition at the Jameel Library dedicated to the creative work of women from Gulf countries in writing, publishing, the arts and archival practice. It is open until April 10, 2027, and some of its materials are on public display for the first time.

On show are books, periodicals, oral history recordings and independent and experimental publications that document how creative work in the region is made, published and circulated, including items never before held in institutional collections.

Drafts and prototypes of books and artworks, and projects still in progress, are displayed next to finished pieces, showing how each work evolved from an idea to its final form.

The opening programme included a panel on gaps in archives, memory and history, a session that combined reading with textile-inspired group work, a collective reading and a theatre performance.
