Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology today issued a red alert for the governorates of Rahat and Madrakah in Makkah region, warning of heavy rainfall.

According to the center, the rain will come with very strong winds that can reduce horizontal visibility to zero, along with hail, flash flooding and thunderstorms with lightning.

The center said the conditions are expected to last until 8 p.m.
