The 15th edition of the Al-Baha Pomegranate Festival got under way today in Al-Qura Governorate under the patronage of Al-Baha Region Governor Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz. Al-Qura Governor Abdullah bin Saad Al-Damer opened the event, attended by Eng. Fahad bin Muftah Al-Zahrani, Director-General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the region, along with officials, farmers, productive families and government bodies.
Visitors will find 55 pavilions displaying different varieties of pomegranate and related products, plus eight pavilions run by productive families, alongside side events intended to support farmers, develop production and improve marketing.
Al-Zahrani described the festival as an important agricultural and marketing platform that showcases the quality of local produce, connects growers with consumers and opens wider markets for farmers and productive families.
He said Al-Baha Region has about 750,000 pomegranate trees, with an estimated annual output of around 10,000 tonnes. Among the region's leading agricultural projects, he cited the pomegranate association's nursery, which covers 7,000 square metres and specialises in producing seedlings for farmers.
The festival aims to highlight the region's agricultural assets, encourage local production, stimulate economic activity and strengthen the presence of local farm products in markets.
