Kuwait has strongly condemned the attack carried out yesterday by the terrorist Houthi militia on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed and injured innocent civilians, including travellers and airport staff, both Saudi citizens and people of other nationalities, and led to a temporary suspension of airport operations.
In a statement issued today and carried by the Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as "heinous and cowardly" and a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. It said the repetition of such systematic hostile acts against civilian objects and vital facilities represents a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to air navigation and the safety of civilians, and requires that those responsible be held accountable.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait's absolute solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability and protect its citizens and residents, stressing that the Kingdom's security is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
It also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take a firm stance on these repeated attacks, so as to protect civilian objects and civil aviation facilities, prevent their recurrence and ensure that the perpetrators do not escape punishment.
