Seven websites selling travel and tourism services, including domestic Umrah packages and tours, have been blocked by the Ministry of Tourism, working with the relevant authorities, for breaching the Tourism Law and failing to meet regulatory requirements.
The ministry said the action is part of its drive against irregular practices in tourism, to protect the rights of tourists and Umrah performers and shield them from fraud and substandard services.
Spokesperson Nasr Al-Ansari said the ministry keeps monitoring violations across tourism activities, online travel platforms included, and takes legal action against offenders. The safety of tourists and Umrah performers, the protection of their rights and the quality of services are priorities that are not open to compromise, he said.
The ministry advised tourists and Umrah performers to use only licensed platforms and travel and tourism offices so that their rights and service quality are guaranteed.
