Sunflowers in shades of yellow, red and orange are brightening farms in the Al-Jouf Region, where farmers are growing several varieties that draw visitors during the bloom and later provide a valuable seed crop.
The flowers, in varied shapes and sizes, offer striking views and a pleasant rural outing in season.
Farmer Abu Malik said he planted sunflowers to give his farm variety and a new look, and that their colours have attracted visitors, while the seeds become a useful harvest once flowering ends.
The blooms last about 15 days before the heads mature and droop; after the petals fall, the seeds develop and are harvested.
The fields are part of wider seasonal farming activity in Al-Jouf that is turning farms into destinations and showcasing the region's natural diversity.
