Coffee growers in Najran Region and its governorates are getting ready for the harvest, which coincides with International Coffee Day and draws attention to the cultural value and agricultural heritage of Saudi coffee.

The season comes as local cultivation expands strongly. Official figures show Najran emerging as an important Saudi coffee region, with about 100,000 coffee trees, more than 30,000 of them bearing fruit and producing over 15 tons of pure coffee.

Murih Al-Shahrani, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Najran, said the branch is running development initiatives that provide farmers with high-quality seedlings, organic fertilizers suited to local soil and water-saving irrigation systems to raise productivity, along with training workshops on global best practices in growing, harvesting and drying coffee.
