Saudi Red Crescent Authority ambulance teams in Madinah reached a 70-year-old Yemeni Umrah pilgrim who had gone into cardiac and respiratory arrest at the Prophet's Mosque in just 13 seconds, a record response time.
The crew gave him the required emergency treatment, activated the cardiac arrest protocol and coordinated directly with the receiving hospital, before taking him to Hayat National Hospital for specialist care.
Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, Director General of the authority's Madinah branch, said a fast response and early intervention are decisive in life-threatening cardiac and respiratory arrest cases.
He pointed to the readiness of ambulance teams, which are stationed around the clock in and around the Prophet's Mosque to serve worshippers, visitors and Umrah pilgrims.
