His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Baha Region, sponsored at the emirate headquarters today the signing of a cooperation agreement to operate a mobile oncology unit providing chemotherapy services to cancer patients in the region.
The agreement was signed between the Medical Services of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Medical Cities Operation Programme, and Al-Baha Health Cluster, represented by King Fahd Hospital in Al-Baha. It aims to deliver safe, coordinated and high-quality care to patients through the mobile unit.
The agreement includes nine areas organising the work between the two sides, among them equipping and operating the unit, providing specialised oncology staff, training and clinical support when needed, patient nomination and referral, clinical data, appointment coordination, treatment documentation, and operational and logistical support.
Prince Hussam stressed the importance of the agreement for the people of the region, directing that its requirements be completed quickly, that referral procedures and appointments be eased, that service quality and safety be ensured, and that periodic reports be submitted.
The unit will serve patients referred by Al-Baha Health Cluster after their clinical data is reviewed and their eligibility assessed and approved. Treatment closer to home can spare patients and their families long journeys for care.
