Debris from a drone brought down by Saudi air defences at the Shaybah field in the Eastern Region killed two residents and injured two more on Wednesday morning, 21 October 2026, the Ministry of Energy said.
According to an official source at the ministry, the drone had been trying to strike one of the plants at the Saudi Aramco field. A vehicle owned by a contractor working on site caught fire outside the plant's fence, but operations were not affected.
The relevant authorities dealt with the incident and took the required measures, the source added.
The ministry source offered sincere condolences to the families of the two people who died and wished the injured a swift recovery.
